The inn's dining room and saloon occupy the old Carpenter Hotel in Atlantic City, Wyoming.

Welcome to our home in Wyoming's Wind River Range. Named for its proximity to the Continental Divide, Atlantic City in 1868 was one of the western-most U.S. settlements where water flowed east. Back then newspapers beckoned miners here with tales of Sweetwater gold. Prospectors come, still. Others come, too: artists, historians, outdoorsy folks, and Scotch drinkers. You might not view Wyoming as single malt Scotch whisky destination, but while you're here you might as well sip from the state's best backbar selection.

Our century-old inn began life as the Carpenter Hotel. Through six decades, neither Nellie Carpenter nor her eldest daughter, Ellen, offered televisions, hot tubs, or Internet connections. We don't either. Today, the inn comprises three guest rooms, five cabins, Miss Ellen's Gallery in the old hotel dining room, and the Two-bit Cowboy Saloon.

Our setting fosters conversation or offers dead quiet for folks who use imagination and feeling to create. Join us. Gaze at a gazillion stars. Explore. Curl up with a great book. Hear yourself think.

Fit for retreats, receptions, and other regenerative gatherings, our inn accommodates up to sixteen stay-over guests and one-day crowds of thirty or so. We serve overnighters breakfast, which often includes pioneer sourdough bread, at Miss Ellen's table in the gallery. Guests or groups may use the guest kitchen to prepare other meals and snacks.
